The
Edward Jenner Day Unit Appeal: Gloucestershire Royal Hospital
Most of
us know of some-one who is or has had to undergo chemotherapy. At the
present time the majority of chemotherapy is given at the Oncology Centre at
Cheltenham General Hospital. People local to Gloucester, Stroud and the
Forest of Dean have to travel to Cheltenham for their treatment. There is a
huge demand for “chair space” for chemotherapy and blood transfusion at
Cheltenham. Many patients have to wait for several days for transfusion due
to lack of space.
The proposal is
to build an extension to the Edward Jenner Unit, GRH to be called the Linc
Suite, and to redesign and refurbish the whole unit to provide a modern
state of the art waiting and treatment area. This would be a dedicated Day
Unit at Gloucester with a capacity of 14-15 reclining chairs in total –
thereby doubling the capacity. The benefit being given freedom of choice
and allowing chemotherapy for patients to be carried out more locally in
Gloucester, and be booked into the Linc Suite at Edward Jenner Unit from
either Gloucestershire Royal or Cheltenham General.
Please come
along and support this appeal and enjoy each other’s company over a bowl of
soup.
Thank you!
