LMT Report
Our
latest module is on Worship and the first two sessions went very well.
Everyone was able to share their thoughts on what worship means to them with
very interesting results.
We are also planning to empower others to support us in “Experience
Christmas” and the “Christingle” service. We are very grateful for the full
co-operation we receive from members of the congregation when they are asked
to get involved in special projects. It is very encouraging for us, and
beneficial to our Church, when we all work well together.
Coming to the end of a year encourages reflection on what went well and what
were the sticking points for the Team throughout 2009.
What went well for us was:
- the compilation of a booklet “Look Around You”. The content of this
booklet formed the basis of the Holy Week Meditations prepared by us. This
booklet is currently at the printers and should be in Church by the end of
the year.
- training as Eucharistic Ministers & the privilege of sharing the
Eucharist.
- Parish review with a number of the congregation
- Team and individual reviews with our LMT Officer, Brian Parfitt.
- our commissioning by Bishop Michael at the Cathedral - a momentous
occasion for us and for the members of the Church family who supported us.
- meeting and sharing a parish tea with Bishop Gerard from Africa.
- organising services for Festival of Hands, Harvest Experience and
Evensong.
- Quiet Day at Bisley in July which was very peaceful and meditative.
What were the sticking points :
- the number of training sessions to be fitted into the year.
- the time taking to complete the scheduled tasks.
- our inexperience to prepare services.
Thankfully, these issues have been very minor and insignificant when
measured against our achievements.
Looking forward, we are scheduled to spend a Spirituality Weekend at
Glenfall House in January 2010. We hope to get more involved with
baptismal preparation and follow-up. We are also planning that “Experience
Pentecost” and “Experience Harvest” be programmed in for 2010. |
